Senior Building Surveyor Location: Cheltenham Type: Full Time Salary: Competitive + Benefits
The Role
An established multi-disciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Surveyor (MRICS) to join its growing team in Cheltenham.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-regarded team delivering a wide range of national and local commissions across multiple sectors including public buildings, residential, education, healthcare, retail, and commercial.
You will be involved in a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from smaller refurbishment schemes through to large-scale developments exceeding £30 million, offering strong exposure across both professional and project-led Building Surveying services.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing client relationships and delivering contract administration duties
* Providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of a variety of property types
* Undertaking building and condition surveys
* Ensuring compliance with current building regulations and technical standards
* Preparing specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation
* Managing maintenance programmes and administering contracts
* Diagnosing and reporting on building defects
* Handling insurance-related work, including negotiations with loss adjusters and preparation of remedial works
* Preparing schedules of dilapidations
* Undertaking quality monitoring roles on a range of schemes
* Leading and managing projects across refurbishment, extension and new build schemes (£50k–£4m)
* Advising on Party Wall matters including notices, schedules of condition and awards
* Coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams
* Supporting business development and client growth
* Mentoring and managing junior team members
* Undertaking technical reviews to ensure quality of service delivery
The Candidate Applicants will be able to demonstrate:
* MRICS qualification (essential)
* Strong consultancy experience within Building Surveying
* Proven ability to manage projects and deliver client-facing services
* Experience supervising and mentoring junior team members
* Excellent technical knowledge across core Building Surveying services
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to work
* Strong analytical and report‑writing capability
