Salary: Circa £70,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical landscape. Your responsibilities will include:
* Leading the Team: Provide technical and strategic management, including task allocation using Jira, while maintaining the deployed and inventory configuration of hardware, software, and tools.
* Understanding Customer Needs: Analyze customer requirements and emerging technologies, communicating how they can enhance our products and services.
* Championing Engineering Principles: Apply and advocate for Systems Engineering and Software Engineering principles.
* Toolset Maintenance: Ensure the toolset deployed across integration labs is up-to-date and functional.
* System Integration: Direct and execute system integration, test planning, and software/network tool setup.
* Engineering Governance: Manage and own delegated engineering governance for systems and designs within the Maritime Integration and Support Centre (MISC).
* Technical Reviews: Lead technical reviews and ensure compliance with business, legislative, and customer requirements.
* Providing Leadership: Offer practical leadership to the Tools and Tech team, assisting with technical troubleshooting and impact assessments.
Your Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for candidates who possess:
* A solid understanding and applied experience of the Engineering/System lifecycle.
* Knowledge of IP networks (protocols, switching & routing).
* Expertise in Integration Tools: Deep understanding of integration tools and their application throughout the integration lifecycle.
* A grasp of how synthetic environments support system integration.
* Experience in software and script development on Windows and Linux platforms.
Qualifications: Ideally, you should be degree qualified or have equivalent experience in technology, engineering, science, or IT-related disciplines. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional registration is preferred.

About the Maritime Integration and Support Centre (MISC):
The MISC is a support facility for maritime experimentation, demonstration, and research for current and future technologies. In this role, you will provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers and stakeholders, developing the integration, test, analysis, and data toolset at the MISC.
