As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will lead and manage the design and implementation of controls solutions for world-class automated material handling systems. You will ensure consistent standards and drive continuous improvement within the design team.
You will leverage your expertise in controls engineering to provide software design for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems, overseeing testing and commissioning while considering cost, timescale, and project requirements.

Tasks and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver project scope and tasks, exceeding safety, quality, on-time delivery, and budget requirements.
* Produce PLC software and visualization systems.
* Emulate control systems in virtual environments and test PLC software.
* Interpret electrical schematics and design input information.
* Lead controls engineering activities related to project design and implementation.
* Ensure systems are CE compliant with Machinery Directive.
* Produce documentation including design calculations, specifications, method statements, risk assessments, manuals, and test specifications.
* Commission control systems onsite and support system commissioning, training, and end-user support.
* Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers through high-quality service.
* Promote continuous improvement in processes for better time, cost, and quality project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering is desirable; HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering considered.
* Experience with Siemens S7 or TIA Portal controls systems.
* Proven hands-on experience in industrial automation.
* Advanced understanding of PLC development tools.
* Proficient with industrial networks like Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, etc.
* Experience with E-plan is a plus.
* Good understanding of electrical and electronic manuals and drawings.
* Knowledge of Machine Directive standards.
* Understanding of distributed control systems.
* Extensive experience in software testing and emulation.
* Full UK driving license required for travel up to 60% within the UK and EMEA.
