Barnsley Hospital are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Secretary to support the Clinical haematology service. This is both a demanding and rewarding role, and it is essential that the successful applicant is able to work effectively as part of the team, supporting and assisting colleagues, whilst prioritising and managing a diverse workload.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective provision of a comprehensive secretarial/administrative service to a team of consultants and cancer nurse specialist teams within Clinical haematology. This role will also involve line management of the existing admin staff, including staff appraisals and monitoring sickness.
Previous medical secretarial experience and knowledge of medical terminology are essential, as well as the ability to manage the service rota to ensure adequate coverage during annual leave/sickness and appropriate escalations.
An empathic approach to patients' journey through the service is vital, as well as being a confident communicator.
