Job Summary
We are looking for a well-organised and reliable Part-Time Legal Assistant to work directly alongside a sole solicitor, forming a small two-person team based in Portsmouth, Hampshire. You'll assist with day-to-day administrative and legal support tasks including dictation typing, diary management, email and file organisation, and general office duties.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with admin experience looking for flexible, part-time hours. Legal experience is a bonus but not required, full on-site training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
As a Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for:
* Typing legal documents and letters from audio/dictation
* Managing the solicitor's diary, appointments, and reminders
* Organising and electronically filing case documents
* Sorting, flagging, and filing emails
* Answering incoming phone calls, taking messages, and handling basic enquiries
* Drafting standard correspondence and legal forms
* Preparing and sorting supporting documents to accompany letters
* General office admin (scanning, printing, filing)
* Supporting the solicitor in the day-to-day running of the practice
* Accompany solicitor on client visits to facilitate will signings.
We are looking for someone who is:
* Organised and detail-oriented
* Able to work independently and manage time effectively
* Confident using Microsoft Office (especially Word and Outlook)
* A clear communicator with a polite, professional phone manner
* Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
Preferred but Not Essential:
* Previous experience in a legal or office-based admin role
* Familiarity with legal terminology or case files
