Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: GL13 (driver or access to transport required due to location)
Salary: £22,102.72 – £24,103.93 per annum (actual salary, dependent on experience and qualifications)
Additional: £1,000 welcome bonus
Hours: 40 hours per week, term-time only
Role Overview
A specialist school for students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its team. The school combines elements of mainstream and special education to create a supportive and aspirational environment where young people can thrive and prepare for life beyond school.
Key Responsibilities
* Build positive, caring relationships with pupils to foster a safe and engaging learning environment.
* Encourage independence and personal growth while maintaining high behavioural expectations.
* Support the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, helping pupils achieve across all areas of learning.
* Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities and routines.
* Adapt flexibly to the changing needs of the school.
* Promote pupils’ cognitive, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual development.
* Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team.
* Complete documentation related to incidents, health, and behaviour under guidance.
Candidate Requirements
* A genuine interest in supporting young people and building trusted relationships.
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English – essential.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Commitment to treating each pupil as an individual.
* A positive and creative approach to meeting diverse needs.
