Join Us as a Health and Safety Officer Lead
Share our vision and coach our depot on the importance of SHEQ and the wellbeing of our Haydock depot team. As our Health and Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in embedding consistent safety practices with sole site responsibility.
Empower your site with H&S activities, engagement, and compliance. This is a great opportunity to utilize your logistics H&S experience in a generalist safety and wellbeing role, reporting to our Regional H&S Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage site H&S in accordance with Wincanton’s SHE procedures.
* Ensure best safety practices are in place to meet high standards internally and for our customers.
* Support and manage site training records.
* Coordinate site H&S activities (e.g., Committees, training, and communications) to ensure compliance.
* Assist with risk assessments and create SSOWs as required.
* Produce reports and support safety initiatives across the network using IT systems.
* Ensure compliance in all H&S matters, including accident investigations and RIDDOR reports.
* Liaise with site leaders and management teams to identify issues and devise solutions.
* Conduct site inspections and audits, manage safety plans to foster our safety culture.
Role Details:
This role is based on-site, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday day shift, with occasional weekends. Salary up to £39,000 depending on experience.
What You Will Bring:

* Knowledge of safety environments within Transport (preferable).
* Ability to resolve complex issues under pressure.
* IOSH qualification required; NEBOSH qualification preferred or in progress.
* Experience in supervisory roles within H&S Logistics/Transport environments.
