MCS Group is looking for a different kind of Senior Software Engineer.A genuine builder at heart.Someone who still loves getting their hands-dirty with the code.An Individual Contributor who lives and breathes the software they build.We're looking for a senior software engineer who still loves building software and has embraced the latest generation of AI development tools to dramatically increase their impact.You've probably spent 10+ years writing production code. You understand software design, architecture, testing, delivery and technical trade-offs because you've lived them.Over the last 6-18 months, you've also discovered that the way software is built is changing.You don't just use AI to generate snippets of code. You use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, OpenAI, Gemini, Copilot or similar as genuine engineering accelerators. You know how to break down complex problems, guide AI effectively, challenge its outputs and combine human judgement with machine-assisted execution.You can deliver in days what previously took weeks.What You'll Be DoingBuilding and shipping software using modern AI-assisted development workflowsWorking with multiple LLMs and coding agents to accelerate deliverySolving complex engineering challenges across new and existing platformsDriving technical decisions while remaining deeply hands-onIdentifying where AI adds value and where engineering judgement remains criticalHelping shape modern software delivery practices in an AI-first environmentWe're Interested If You Have10+ years of commercial software engineering experience (back-end preferred)A background as an Individual ContributorAt least 12+ months of real-world experience using AI coding toolsExperience with tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI, Gemini or similarA track record of shipping high-quality software at paceStrong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, architecture and deliveryCuriosity about emerging technologies and a desire to stay ahead of the curve.Northern Ireland preferred, although exceptional candidates elsewhere in Great Britain may also be considered.
