This role is remote with very occasional travel to our Leicester offices. You will work as part of an agile software delivery team, collaborating with other developers, the Product Manager and the Software Test Engineers to deliver high-quality software.
About the team and context
Guardian is a call taking and dispatching platform used by emergency service operators across the UK and Europe. We help 999 or 112 operators answer calls and dispatch responders, enabling the right response when every second counts. The Guardian portfolio is a leading offering for Fire & Police agencies, and you will help us innovate across this portfolio and potentially lead development for an expansion product. The Guardian team is distributed across the UK with hubs in Glasgow, Leicester and Hemel. The daily work is remote and often asynchronous, with some in-person events and social activities.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of an agile delivery team to design, develop, document and test software.
* Develop mission-critical or supporting software to a high standard.
* Collaborate with senior product leads to refine core call taking and dispatching offerings and contribute to expansion initiatives.
Technical stack and applicants
Typical tech stack: C#.NET backend and ReactJS / TypeScript frontend. We are open to applications from both experienced and graduate engineers. You are not expected to have all the listed skills, but they will be useful in performing your job.
* Frontend systems in JavaScript
* HTML and CSS understanding
* Passion for writing high-quality code
* Understanding of modern software development practices (SOLID)
* Exposure to modern development workflows, including agile processes, Git repositories, and pull requests
Important Ability to attain NPPV3 and SC clearance. Must be a resident of the UK for a minimum of 5 years to obtain.
Qualifications
* A formal qualification (Degree) in Computing Science or equivalent experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
