Position: Assistant Underwriter – Property Location: Stafford, United Kingdom (Hybrid) Contract Type: Full-time Sector: Insurance – Underwriting Overview Our client is seeking an Assistant Underwriter to support the Property underwriting team by evaluating new and renewal business in line with delegated authority and underwriting strategy. This is a development opportunity suitable for professionals looking to build or pivot their insurance career into underwriting, with full training provided. Key Responsibilities Provide technical and general underwriting support to the team. Assess and record insurance risks accurately to maintain standards and mitigate risk. Maintain effective working relationships with brokers, customers, and internal stakeholders. Ensure data accuracy in underwriting systems to support decision-making. Assist senior underwriters with foundational underwriting tasks. Prepare and maintain documentation to support compliance and audit trails. Support business planning by assisting in the creation of management reports and performance metrics. Candidate Profile Essential Skills and Attributes: Experience in insurance, preferably within property or commercial lines. Organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proactive problem solver with the tenacity to follow through on tasks.
