A leading manufacturing company in South Oxfordshire are looking for buyer / purchaser to work with the purchasing team to ensure all direct and indirect materials are available on time and purchased at the most cost-effective price.
Ensure your allocated suppliers are performing to agreed KPI. Your will success will ultimately be judged on how well suppliers perform and the contribution to the business bottom line, through pricing and availability of material.
Main Duties:
1. Sourcing and placement of orders for contract and non-contract items. Using appropriate MRP reports and manual requisitions.
2. Negotiation lower pricing whenever possible.
3. Maintenance of Supplier details on the MRP system and review of supplier performance.
4. Responsible for monitoring supplier performance and developing improvement programmes.
5. Maintenance of minimum stock levels against MRP requirements.
6. Adjust component MRP parameters to achieve on time availability and appropriate batch sizes.
7. Progress chasing outstanding PO's in liaison with Production Control.
8. Assist Stores personnel when required including stocktaking etc.
9. Assist Production Control when required to progress work through the factory.
10. Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests.
Qualifications and Experience:
11. A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) (Desirable but not essential.
12. If you don't possess a CIPS qualification, would you have a willingness to obtain one that may include out of hours or distance learning?
13. 3 years' experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar and are you competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data?
14. Experienced in supplier or customer management.
15. Demonstrate a competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook?
16. Experience of working in a manufacturing environment
17. Demonstrate a professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing.
18. Possess excellent communication and assertiveness skills
19. Flexible and reliable
20. Self-motivated and able to multi-task
21. Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to meet multiple project deadlines.
You need to have good people skills with a strong business acumen and an analytical approach to a decision. An effective Communicator and problem solver and calmness in a crisis.
This is NOT a hybrid role, 100% office based, and you need to have your own transport to get to the location in South Oxfordshire.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am - 4.30pm, competitive salary depending on experience,
