Director – Quantitative Analytics

To design, develop, implement, and support mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models and analytics used in business decision‑making.
Responsibilities
* Drive technical architecture with a focus on DevOps and automation across the model development & deployment life‑cycle.
* Build and maintain analytical frameworks that promote reuse of model calculations across multiple business use‑cases (e.g., IFRS9, CECL, stress testing).
* Work with data scientists and quantitative model developers to drive strategic initiatives and deliver innovative financial models used for risk reporting and capital adequacy.
* Collaborate with technology and quantitative teams globally to develop and refine data science infrastructure in Python while driving the modelling data strategy to support both model development and execution needs.
* Partner with technology to build scalable, data and analytics platforms that can connect to internal systems for pricing and/or reporting systems.
* Supervise a team of quantitative developers to build analytics using distributed computing solutions in Python.
* Design analytics and modeling solutions to complex business problems using domain expertise.
* Collaborate with technology to specify any dependencies required for analytical solutions, such as data, development environments and tools.
* Develop high‑performing, comprehensively documented analytics and modeling solutions that demonstrate effectiveness to business users and independent validation teams.
* Implement analytics and models in accurate, stable, well‑tested software and work with technology to operationalize them.
* Provide ongoing support for the continued effectiveness of analytics and modeling solutions to users.
* Demonstrate conformance to all Barclays Enterprise Risk Management Policies, particularly Model Risk Policy.
* Ensure all development activities are undertaken within the defined control environment.
Qualifications
* A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering or related technical fields.
* Expertise in Python software development, with depth in developing concurrent software solutions in its ecosystem.
* Ability to decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions with proven experience of leading teams.
* Excellent communicator and team player, possessing board‑level managerial, critical problem‑solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills.
* Expertise in stakeholder management across business & technology partners with a proven ability to deliver according to agreed timelines.
* Experience in MLOps is preferred along with DevOps tools such as Git, TeamCity.
* Experience with frameworks like Kedro, MLFlow and platforms like Databricks is a plus.
* Experience developing frameworks for mathematical, statistical, and machine learning models and analytics used in financial institutions.

* Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
* Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub‑function.
* Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
* Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
* Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
* Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up‑to‑date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
* Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
* Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
* Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
* Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
* Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
