The Global Medical Director will provide medical and scientific leadership for late‑stage assets in gastroenterology and rheumatology as they approach regulatory submission and launch. Reporting to the VP, Global Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Rare Endocrinology and Hospital Medical Lead, this role will serve as a key medical partner across R&D and Medical Affairs, ensuring seamless transition from development to launch readiness. The role will focus on high‑impact scientific engagement to support clinical trial recruitment, deepen disease‑area understanding, and strengthen relationships with external experts and investigators. The Global Medical Director will contribute to the development and execution of global medical and scientific strategies, integrating insights from ongoing clinical programs to inform launch preparation, evidence generation, and scientific communication plans. Working in close collaboration with cross-medical and cross-functional partners across R&D, US and International Divisions, the Global Medical Director will help ensure that late‑stage clinical programs are supported by robust scientific exchange and that medical readiness activities are aligned to support successful launches and meaningful impact for patients in immune‑mediated inflammatory diseases. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Involvement in clinical trial site engagement and operational launch plan with key stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure on-time launch and execution of key milestones. Serve as a reliable, trusted source of accurate scientific knowledge for clinical data, disease state, product label and competitive data sets in the Gastroenterology and Rheumatology field with special focus on myositis and inflammatory bowel disease. Scientific engagement activities with clinical trial sites and investigators. Insight generation activities including advisory board meetings. IEP development and evidence generation activities. Internal data interpretation and alignment activities. Evidence dissemination, education and engagement activities including scientific publications and scientific exchange via channel mix. Internal medical training. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS PhD or PharmD required Strong experience in pharmaceutical industry Deep disease area understanding in Gastroenterology (specifically IBD) and Rheumatology (specifically myositis) is required Research experience and scientific acumen is required Clinical development experience is preferred Mature, self-driven, exceptional learning agility Cross functional effectiveness Proven track record of ability to work successfully with cross-functional colleagues in a matrix team setting across countries and internationally with diverse colleagues Very strong communications and relationship building capacity and ability to listen, understand and integrate country and local needs Fluency in written and spoken English required Work location assignment: Hybrid (some office presence is required) Purpose Breakthroughs that change patients' lives At Pfizer we are a patient centric company, guided by our four values: courage, joy, equity and excellence.
