Role Overview: To lead the purchasing and planning function, sourcing and purchasing the best quality equipment, goods and services at the most competitive prices and providing a clear production plan to enable Polypipe Building Services to operate successfully and manage risk issues. Key Responsibilities: * To efficiently manage the day to day activities of the Purchasing and Planning department ensuring a culture of continuous improvement * End to end management of suppliers, including taking the lead on purchasing negotiations and supplier sourcing and onboarding * Identifying, owning and delivery of annual savings targets * Improve cash conversion through negotiation of improved payment terms * Derisk spend through the rollout of Framework Agreement contracts * Work closely with group procurement colleagues on centrally sourced products/services * Identifying new suppliers, agreeing terms and negotiating supply agreements where appropriate * Manage supplier performance, ensuring quality, cost and delivery against KPI’s * Reviewing and enhancing ongoing processes and systems and developing new strategies where necessary * Producing statistical reports and analysis on spending and cost saving * Monitor and ensure day-to-day availability of raw materials, components and PFR products whilst maintaining an economic stock position * Involvement with BES accreditation * Manage the planning team to provide an effective production plan * Motivate and develop personnel in order to maximise their potential and ensure that departmental and company goals are understood and met. * Effectively communicate company and departmental information, ensuring all cascades are conducted in a professional and timely manner, with clear understanding from audience and feedback received acted on or passed on as appropriate. * To provide a development and training plan for all departmental staff Skills and Requirements: * Proven experience in a Buying/Supply Chain role * Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent qualification * Be a strong negotiator to lead commercial and contractual negotiations with potential & existing suppliers on behalf of the business. * Good working knowledge of business ERP systems * Knowledge of BES 6001 an advantage * Manufacturing & engineering technical knowledge an advantage * Ability to lead and focus a team in order to realise objectives * Ability to monitor performance of individuals and processes and take appropriate action to maximise outputs * Ability to analyse processes, find and implement improvements including the design and documentation of new systems as well as training of operatives in new working methods * Computer literate - knowledge of Excel and Word essential * Good communication skills * Highly motivated with ability to work under own initiative, making decisions to benefit the company * Understanding of all manufacturing and logistics processes Working Hours & Benefits: Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Up to 8% matched pension Company Sick Pay Share save Scheme Life assurance Various health & wellbeing initiatives including complimentary occupational health on-site physiotherapy and counselling services Staff discount on all Genuit Group products
