About the role
The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for providing advice on all aspects of health and safety legislation and good practice in order to create a safe working environment for staff, students, visitors and contractors.
The Health and Safety Advisor will be familiar with the Colleges health and safety policy and procedures and assist staff in ensuring that they are applied at all levels of the organisation.
Main Responsibilities:
Carry out health and safety monitoring through audits and inspections completing the necessary documentation and following up actions.
To develop and deliver health and safety training for College staff.
Maintain records of accidents reports, investigations and compilations of statistics.
Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
Carry out fire risk assessments and assist departments with completion of risk assessments.
Assist with developing health and safety policies and procedures.
Liaising with the People Team and assisting with return to work assessments, reasonable adjustments and maternity risk assessments.
Attend meetings such as Health and Safety committee as appropriate.
Implementing health and safety and wellbeing initiatives and arranging associated activities.
This is a temporary position working until 29th May 2026

As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £31,885 - £35,849 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role
