Multi-Disciplinary Domestic Abuse Prevention Specialist - Permanent
Southend-on-SeaCity Councils new Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) consists of subject-matterexperts specialising in domestic abuse, drug and alcohol support, mental healthsupport for adults and children and systemic family therapy.MDT workers bring specialist knowledge and therapeutic insight. Their expertiseis instrumental in engaging families in direct intervention and supportingsustainable change.
The MDT team issituated within frontline social work teams. The interventions from MDT aredelivered within the community and/ or in the families homes.
This is anexciting time for Childrens Social Work, and we are seeking experienced,motivated and passionate individuals to join the new dynamic Multi-DisciplinaryTeam (MDT).
Led by the TeamManager, you will help create the conditions for sustainable change, workingalongside a diverse team of subject-matter experts.
Main duties of the job
The team arelooking to appoint a full-time, permanent, experienced Domestic AbusePrevention Specialist.
The welfare andsafety of victims/survivors, children and young people, and vulnerable adultsis paramount. Working alongside the Assessment & Intervention and FamilySupport & Protection Teams, the Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will taketimely and appropriate action to safeguard vulnerable adults and children inevery aspect of their work.

Job responsibilities
The specialistwill be required to deliver intervention to children impacted by domestic abusein one-to-one sessions and with the potential for group work. They will alsocontribute to a multi-agency assessment and management of risk to victims/survivorsand children affected by domestic abuse and proactively secure service userengagement and influence behaviour change.
They will beable to understand the multi-agency partnership structures and work withinthese settings.
Establishongoing multi-agency connections and relationships for the benefit of childrenand their family. Be able to support the empowerment of service users andassist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse presentin their situation and support them effect change.
Other Keyfactors
Deliverbehaviour change interventions using a range of skills to engage service usersand reduce risk to victim/survivors and children.
Maintaintimely, accurate and confidential case management records and contribute to thework of the team.
Participatein regular case management reviews within the Multi-Disciplinary Team and yourline manager based on a review of risk and abuse which feeds back into actionplanning to further progress, signpost, or close cases, and provides feedbackto your clients/agencies and informs future case management.
Contributeto data and written reports with effective case data input and through theprovision of case studies to illustrate the impact of the service for domesticabuse victims, survivors and children.
Engagein supervision both individually and through group supervision.
Whilst thisposition is predominately on site at Southend City Council, working from homeoptions are available, but will depend on the needs of the team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* To be shortlisted for this position, it is essential that you are degree educated within a relevant field, i.e. social work, psychology, counselling, nursing, or demonstrate substantial relevant experience working with domestic violence interventions and delivery of programmes.
Experience
* Suitable experience would ideally be with direct work with children but also with working with adults impacted by and perpetrating abuse.
* You must have detailed knowledge relating to safeguarding children, social work practice as well as knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidance & policy issues relating to domestic violence.
* Be able to demonstrate significant experience in developing support packages, accurate recording, and thorough assessments, all delivered in line with trauma-informed principles that prioritise safety, trust, and empowerment.
* The post holder will have evidence of excellent practice and participation in casework, recording and assessment. Having strong experience in partnership working is essential for this role, as it will operate in a multi-agency environment.
