Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to effectively grow our client’s current market share within the Swimming and Timing products marketplace and to generate sales to the agreed levels.
The ideal candidate will have 3 years’ experience working in a Customer/Sales Services Department, preferably within the sports industry.
Authority Limits/Dimensions
Financial
* Cost expenditure within budgeted project costings
* Sales target and profit margin target to be agreed upon commencement
* Expenses consistent with company policy
Non-Financial
* Ensure full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Welfare requirements within Congleton HQ
* Territory covered – UK
Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing
* In conjunction with the Sales Manager, produce and update the company’s annual sales budget detailing potential opportunities for increased sales prior to the commencement of the financial year (January to December)
* Source and develop new business opportunities with existing and new customers
* Obtain market intelligence regarding competitor activity
Promotion/Advertising
* Assist in the development of promotional materials and planning of trade shows
* Assist in the annual advertising program
Market Testing
* Carry out new product market testing
Pricing
* Determine product pricing, labor cost rates, and discounts in conjunction with the Sales Manager
Sales
* Promote and sell a range of aquatic and timing products from leading brands including Beco, Colorado timing systems, MyLaps, Finish Lynx Freelap
* Ensure maximum coverage of the sales territory and generate new accounts through B2B sales calls and relationship building
* Plan and arrange visits to potential and existing customers within the sales area
* Log and monitor all pending sales quotations, service-related communication, and follow-up sales opportunities, including phone calls
* Utilize HubSpot system to target potential repeat sales, maintain customer records, and update communication
* Process sales invoices and purchase orders using the Cin7 platform
Preparation of Proposals
* Prepare and submit proposals to potential and existing customers
* Follow up proposals to secure sales
Customer Care and Communication
* Service existing accounts and manage customer/supplier relationships to ensure retention
Stock Control
* Ensure sales stock is accounted for and maintained at appropriate levels
* Order equipment from suppliers using the internal purchase order process
* Receive timing equipment from suppliers, check for damage, test functionality, and store appropriately
Reporting
* Report monthly to the Sales Manager with updates and sales forecasts
Events
* Work at events as required
Continuous Improvement
* Enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the sales function through continuous improvement processes
General
* Drive company and hire vehicles, subject to passing driving tests and insurance approval
