Job Description An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with in-pond mechanical handling experience to design rigs, tooling, and storage equipment to join a major project design team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an established team working on a high-profile infrastructure project within the nuclear sector. The role offers the chance to work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment delivering a project of national importance. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Engineering Manager, multidisciplinary project teams, and the client on a fast-paced project. Key Responsibilities Ensure all plans, drawings, and quantities are accurate and suitable for engineering calculations. Manage and control design documentation, including drawings and technical specifications. Maintain configuration control of engineering deliverables. Liaise with client designers and other discipline teams to ensure compliance with applicable design and construction regulations. Provide regular progress reports and updates to the Mechanical Responsible Engineer. Plan and prioritise work effectively, adapting to setbacks and resolving technical challenges as they arise. Use industry-standard CAD, coordination, and 3D scanning software to enable accurate transfer of site data to the design team. Provide input and technical support for Design and Constructability Reviews as required. Required Experience & Skills HNC/HND in Engineering (or equivalent qualification). Strong operational plant knowledge and experience working within a live operational environment. Experience using engineering document management and configuration control systems. Positive, proactive attitude with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across diverse project teams. Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for work within a regulated industry environment. Working Arrangements Full-time position - 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday).
