About your new role
The Healthcare Regulatory Professional Discipline Team acts for medical defence organisations, insurers, and private clients in respect of regulatory, disciplinary, coronial, and criminal matters. The team has a nationwide reach with fee earners based in London, Leeds, and Cardiff. The team is highly regarded in this diverse and unique area of work; we are ranked as a tier 1 firm in professional discipline by the Legal 500.
We are looking for an experienced fee earner to join the team in Cardiff to work alongside the partner and the specialised team based in that office covering Wales and the west of England. The work would involve advising on GDC/GMC investigations, inquests, police investigations and prosecutions (subject to experience), and Health Board/Trust disciplinary cases. The role will involve representing clients in a wide range of hearings, sometimes arranged at short notice.
You will have previous experience in some or all of these areas, and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. We also require you to:
* Take responsibility for cases with minimal supervision
* Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
* Ensure case management records are maintained
* Take an active role in business development initiatives including training and networking
* Assist other lawyers in the team with their work, including supporting lead advisers and supervising more junior lawyers

About You
You will be a qualified solicitor, 5-10 years PQE, with experience in professional regulation. As the role is varied, we are looking for a flexible approach to the work you do and the ability to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have/be:
* Knowledge of how healthcare regulators operate
* Advocacy experience
* A willingness to extend your existing skills and develop expertise in this area of law
* A high level of commercial awareness
* Conscientious, self-motivated, hardworking, responsive, with critical thinking abilities and excellent communication, organisation, and analytical skills
* A methodical, organised approach
* Passionate about growth and generating work opportunities internally and externally
* Focuses on operational excellence and great service delivery to enhance the client’s experience
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets, maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality
* Good attention to detail
* Good IT skills
* Skilled in multitasking and prioritising tasks independently
* Ability to work as part of a team and also possess initiative and a “can-do” attitude
* Good collaborative and team working skills
