Job Description Maintenance Operative – Nursing Homes Role will be covering the Hertfordshire area Salary: Up to £30,000 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday on call Our client, a growing and well-established group of care homes in the Hertfordshire area, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Operative to support the smooth running of their homes. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same – from keeping buildings and gardens in excellent condition to ensuring essential health and safety checks are completed. What We’re Looking For Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role (e.g. building, facilities, estates, or property maintenance) Practical knowledge across trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and general DIY Experience with grounds or garden maintenance Strong understanding of health and safety compliance, ideally within care, healthcare, or residential settings Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential for travel between sites) Reliable, organised, and able to manage a varied workload independently Key Responsibilities Carrying out general maintenance tasks across multiple care home sites, including carpentry, plumbing, decorating, and painting Maintaining the grounds and gardens to a high standard Conducting routine checks and completing planned maintenance works Overseeing key health and safety responsibilities, including fire safety systems and legionella management Responding to ad hoc repair needs promptly and effectively Taking part in a call-out rota (paid separately) to ensure homes are supported out of hours when required Reference: WILL163567/JE INDNUR
