Role overview
As the Medical Writer at HRS Communications, you will play a key role in translating complex scientific information into clear, accessible, and engaging content. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented professional with a background in nutrition or related healthcare fields. The ideal candidate will have a passion for healthcare communications, a strong understanding of medical and scientific literature, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality content.
Responsibilities:
· Great grammar, punctuation, structure, sense, clarity, accuracy and consistency
· Can write and prepare accurate, clear and concise content for different audiences
· Has knowledge of, and ensures compliance with relevant guidelines
· Ensures consistency with client’s style guide
· Demonstrates excellent attention to detail
· Sees tasks and projects through from brief to completion with assistance where necessary
· Delivers work on-brief and on-time
· Demonstrates the ability to learn new therapeutic areas
· Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and mark-ups in Adobe
· Understands the role of communications in the nutrition industry and the roles involved throughout healthcare communications
· Expresses a willingness and desire to work as part of a team, communicating and collaborating with all as needed in a proactive manner
· Confidently manages multiple projects simultaneously
· Contributes to the development and maintenance of the agency's scientific and editorial standards.
· Support with copywriting needs across the business (e.g., marketing materials, proposals etc.)
Confidently performs the following to the highest standard, with minimal assistance:
· Produces high-quality, evidence-based content for various platforms, including websites, educational materials, and marketing collateral.
· Ability to conduct thorough desk research and critically evaluate/check scientific information
· Editorial quality control
· Formatting and re-templating
· Marking-up reference packs
· Proofreading
· Veeva management (e.g., responding to comments/uploading and linking of references)
· Adheres to project timelines, budgets, and client specifications.
Client communication
· Provides timely progress updates via email
· Communicates and collaborates confidently and professionally with colleagues, clients, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders as required
· Receives consistently good feedback from clients
· Participates in client meetings where necessary
· Uses initiative to know when to reach out to clients e.g. to clarify feedback or update on a deadline
· Responds to client feedback and ensures that content aligns with client objectives.
Experience and qualifications:
· Advanced degree in a relevant scientific or medical field (e.g., nutrition, biology, health communication)
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical writing, preferably in a healthcare or nutrition communications agency
· Has demonstrable knowledge and understanding of 2 or more clinical areas (preferably dietetic-related)
Additional requirements:
· Completes timesheet on time
· Asks for support when needed
· Pro-actively offers time to colleagues/departments where appropriate
· Attends meetings as required
Location: Fully remote
