DHU is looking for a People and Culture Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
The Purpose of the Role:
You will support the People & Culture Team in delivering a comprehensive, consistent, and professional service to our customers in line with our CARE values and behavioral framework. This includes providing proactive, professional, and consistent Absence Management and People Relations advice and guidance.
A key focus will be on maintaining accurate and consistent data, communication, and escalation where required. You will provide expert advice and guidance on key People Relations projects such as TUPE, Management of Change (MOC), and internal and external audits.
Daily Duties of a People and Culture Advisor:
* Act as the primary point of contact for absence-related matters, including short-term sickness, long-term sickness, family leave, and other statutory or discretionary time off.
* Monitor and track employee absence management, analyze trends, identify patterns, and address issues accordingly.
* Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, peers, and all our customers, internal and external, with the confidence to challenge professionally when required.
* Provide advice and guidance regarding Absence Management and People Relations matters, in line with DHU policies, procedures, best practices, and values; seek support from the People & Culture or other DHU teams when needed.
* Support managers with formal and informal absence meetings and early interventions to prevent sustained periods of leave where possible.
* Assist line managers with Occupational Health referrals, escalations, and coordinate People & Culture follow-up actions or collaborations with other departments, such as Health & Safety.
* Provide consistent and professional correspondence aligned with our CARE values, behavioral framework, policies, procedures, and UK legislation.
* Maintain employee files in compliance with legislation (GDPR), best practices, CQC, and local regulations to ensure comprehensive record-keeping of all People Relations matters.
Qualifications and Experience Needed:
* A good general education and a professional degree-level qualification.
* A relevant professional HR qualification (CIPD Level 5 preferred, or Level 3 with progress towards Level 5).
* Strong ER generalist experience (minimum of 2 years preferred).
* Experience updating and maintaining HRIS and Excel trackers.
* Ability to manage conflicting priorities and workloads efficiently.
Employee Benefits:
* NHS Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our NHS pension scheme. Existing NHS employees can transfer their service and benefits.
* Cycle to Work Scheme: Spread the cost of a new bike interest-free through salary sacrifice.
* Enhanced Maternity/Paternity Leave: Support during family milestones with our family-friendly policies.
* Referral Program: Earn rewards for referring new colleagues.
* Birthday Leave Guarantee: Choose whether to take your birthday off or work on it.
