We are recruiting for a Buyer to join a friendly, fast-paced, and well-established company based on the outskirts of St Albans.

As a standalone Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the most appropriate goods and services are selected based on price, quality, and delivery times while ensuring profitability at all times.

This role is 100% office-based

Key Responsibilities:
1. Seek quotes on prices and availability of materials from a variety of suppliers
2. Purchase goods, supplies, and other relevant services
3. Identify potential suppliers and new products
4. Liaise between suppliers and relevant internal departments
5. Closely monitor and report delivery schedules to and from site
6. Keep detailed records and maintain a well-organised work schedule
7. Ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives
8. Assess the reliability of suppliers and delivery performance
9. Establish and monitor an approved supplier list
10. Ensure all materials comply with health and safety guidelines
11. Arrange meetings with suppliers
12. Perform any other duties commensurate with the post
What the employer is looking for:
* Experience within a similar Buyer role
* At least a Level 5 CIPS qualification
* Excellent understanding of numeric data
* A proactive and flexible attitude
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
* Strong attention to detail
* Great problem-solving and negotiating skills
* Methodical, organised, and able to work under pressure
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Knowledge of the building services and FM industry is a bonus
* Due to the location, a driving license and own car are essential
