Tax Manager (12-Month Fixed Term Contract) £70,000 - £80,000 + Benefits – Basingstoke, Hampshire (Hybrid 1-2 days in week)
FryerMiles are delighted to be working with an established, international organisation is seeking a Tax Manager on a 12 month fixed term contract to take ownership of its UK and international tax affairs. This role will be responsible for managing tax compliance, reporting, and governance, while also providing proactive advisory support to the wider business.
Working closely with the Finance team and supported by a Tax Accountant, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate reporting, minimising risk, and maintaining an effective and compliant tax function.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance & Reporting
1. Oversee preparation and review of partnership and corporate tax returns
2. Ensure timely and accurate submission of all tax filings and payments
3. Prepare tax disclosures for statutory accounts, including current and deferred tax
4. Support forecasting of tax liabilities and effective tax rate management
5. Manage relationships with external advisers and oversee deliverables
6. Support partner-related tax matters including onboarding and leavers
7. Oversee international tax filings and assess UK recoverability
8. Monitor transfer pricing and group tax arrangements
VAT
9. Review VAT returns and ensure accurate application and reporting
10. Provide guidance to the business on VAT treatment
11. Maintain robust VAT controls and processes
12. Support implementation of legislative changes
13. Oversee international VAT compliance via third parties
Employment Tax
14. Support employment tax compliance including PAYE, NIC, and benefits
15. Oversee IR35 processes and ensure correct off-payroll treatment
16. Provide guidance to HR and Finance on employment tax matters
Tax Risk, Governance & Advisory
17. Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess business impact
18. Strengthen internal tax controls and governance frameworks
19. Provide practical tax advice on commercial and operational matters
20. Support responses to tax authority enquiries
Cross-Functional Support
21. Partner with Finance, HR, Procurement, and Operations
22. Provide training and support on tax-related matters
23. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
General Responsibilities
24. Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge
25. Support ad hoc tax and finance projects
26. Contribute to process improvement and system enhancements
Skills & Experience
27. Professionally qualified (CTA or equivalent)
28. Strong UK tax technical knowledge across corporate, partnership, VAT, and employment taxes
29. Experience within a mixed tax environment (practice and/or industry)
30. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
31. Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
32. Confident communicator with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
33. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
34. Proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative approach
35. Strong Excel and tax software experience
