What Is the Opportunity?

At Travelers, we create trusted strategic products and services to unlock the power of our data.

Travelers Data Engineering team constructs pipelines that contextualize and provide easy access to data for the entire enterprise.

As a Senior Manager for Data Engineering, you will lead and mentor Data Management team members to achieve development and implementation goals and support all applications within the teams’ remit. This includes designing and building data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support Artificial Intelligence and Business Intelligence/Insights.

You will liaise with business and departmental managers to identify and implement resilient software applications meeting business needs. Ensure ongoing IT support requirements are in place for all applications.

Travelers Europe offers flexibility for hybrid work in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy, typically involving three days in the office and two days remote per week.

What Will You Do?

1. Ensure appropriate resources and budget are available for projects.
2. Oversee planning and personal development of team members.
3. Define requirements with product owners and design solutions using Travelers' preferred methodologies and platforms.
4. Engage with enterprise architects overseeing consumption patterns, platforms, and infrastructure.
5. Implement and develop analytic data products, data movement, and persistence capabilities, including support and maintenance.
6. Operationalize and automate capabilities for secure, supported, and scalable solutions.
7. Work with internal/external development resources to implement IT solutions.
8. Liaise with software suppliers for support and releases.
9. Ensure adherence to development schedules and lifecycle standards.
10. Train users and ensure effective system use.
11. Guide and coach team members for knowledge sharing and career development.
12. Identify synergies across group members.
13. Provide regular project updates to managers and sponsors.
14. Stay informed on new technologies and developments, especially in Cloud and AI.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

* Significant experience in Insurance IT, preferably within Lloyd's Insurance Market.
* Experience managing a busy team from project inception to implementation.
* Excellent communication skills at all levels.
* Good organizational and administrative skills.
* Experience working with third-party providers.
* Knowledge of Lloyds Insurance and Reinsurance, Finance GAAP, Actuarial Reserve, Lloyds Regulatory Reports, Databases (Data Warehouse, T-SQL, SSIS, SQL Server 2019), ETL processes with Databricks, Python, AWS, Agile methodologies, Jira, MS Office products.
* Education: BSc degree or higher in a relevant field with Computer Studies qualifications.
