Overview

CRM Clinic Clinical Duties & Responsibilities: to assist in brady and complex device follow-up clinics. Interpret and report remote PPM and ILR transmission data across different remote platforms, with direct/indirect supervision.

Non-Invasive Clinical Duties & Responsibilities: demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, conditions and pathologies. Resting 12-lead ECG acquisition and interpretation to SCST standard. Advanced technical analysis of ambulatory ECG. Produce comprehensive, unsupervised ambulatory ECG reports of a highly professional standard. Provide cover for the Assistant Cardiac Practitioners to fit ambulatory ECG and BP monitors. Lead role in cardiac physiologist-led and doctor-supervised exercise testing for the ischaemic and inherited cardiac condition patient cohorts with provision of full and accurate technical report. Able to risk assess patients and escalate results to senior colleagues or medical staff depending on clinical findings.

Invasive Clinical duties: to assist and lead in the implantation of ILR devices and to provide a high level of education to the patient. Introduction to coronary intervention cath lab.

Acquire and maintain a high level of professional competence in the performance of all tests, investigations and measurements carried out under the band 5 remit. Interpret and act upon results of tests, investigations and measurements in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Comment and contribute to new proposals and protocols, especially for service improvements. Shared responsibility for quality assurance and improvement of service. Assist clinical leads in effective multidisciplinary audits, clinical governance and quality assurance, whilst developing benchmarks for best practice. Be actively involved in the personal and professional development of other clinical cardiac physiologists and assistant cardiac practitioners. Use devices, reagents, consumables, hazardous materials and equipment safely and in accordance with Health and Safety policies. Participate in risk management procedures including risk assessment and the investigation and reporting of adverse incidents.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Cardiac Physiologist, either recently or newly qualified. The Cardiology department performs a wide range of invasive and non-invasive tests. You will be actively encouraged to develop your skills and knowledge through self-study, in-house training and external training and national conference attendance. To be successful the candidate should independently practice with a high level of skill and autonomy at Band 5 level in non-invasive diagnostics with proven skills in ECG recordings and rhythm recognition. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of interventional cardiology and basic cardiac pacing. You will be patient focused and enjoy a varied and at times challenging workload.
