Charity Assistant
Somebody Cares Scotland is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) committed to improving the welfare of those in need within Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. It accepts donations of furnishings, household items, cloths, and food, in great quantities, from the people of Aberdeen and either donates them free of charge to the charity clients or sells them on to customers of the retail outlets, using the proceeds to cover the running costs of the organisation.
The Charity Assistant reports directly to the Office Manager. They are responsible for ensuring efficient frontline responses to people that contact the charity by phone, email or in-person.
Personal Specification
The successful candidate will be driven and self-motivated and responsible for managing the reception desk alongside the Office Manager and Office Assistant. Essential skills for the successful candidate are:

* Comfortable in a busy fast-paced work environment
Role Description
The duties below are the areas of responsibility of the Charity Assistant. This list is not exhaustive and can change and develop with the needs of the charity.
* Answer telephone calls
* Book appointments for clients
* Take requests for food parcels
* Liaise with the foodbank volunteers and drivers re parcel packing and delivery / collection
* Accompany Somebody Cares clients and support workers during furniture selection appointments. Record their choices and liaise with the Logistics Manager re. the delivery
* Book appointments for donation collection
* Assist in the foodbank where necessary, ensuring food levels are consistent and packing bags. This will be required when there aren’t enough volunteers on hand
* Record details of appointments, requests, collections, deliveries, etc, as required
* Assist the Office Manager as required
* To have a very good understanding of the Somebody Cares operations so that queries can be answered, and quick decisions can be made
* To be aware of data protection issues and follow processes to ensure this
* Be aware of and champion Health and Safety best practice in the Warehouse
* Any other duties which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post
Other Considerations
We envisage this role to be two and a half days a week (20 hours) worked over five days from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.Six months' probation period applies.
The annual leave entitlement willbe 28working days(pro rata) which includes alllocalpublic and bank holidays,given in lieuif required to workon these days.
Thejob description will be reviewed from time to time and may be updated depending on the changing needs of theorganisation.
The post-holder will be required to work from the Somebody Cares headquarters, which is currently on Wellington Circle, Altens, Aberdeen.
