Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join our team at Joule Hot Water Systems Ltd in Castleford, West Yorkshire. This role is crucial for maintaining our financial integrity and supporting our growth objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in financial accounting and be eager to develop their skills.
The Assistant Accountant would sit as part of the core finance team, and report directly to the Finance Manager with regular Professional Development Reviews (PDRs) to ensure that they are fully supported in their role.
Your input will be essential in supporting the Head of Accounts UK carry out all accounting processes to trial balance.
The role holder will need to be able to work quickly and accurately, having excellent organisational skills and be a good communicator. This role is intended for part qualified accountants who are looking to continue their learning journey and looking to complete ACCA or CIMA.
Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end monthly payroll processing, including HMRC submissions.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in a timely and accurate manner.
* Assist in the preparation and submission of Corporation Tax filings.
* Support the preparation of monthly management accounts.
* Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements.
* Coordinate and support the annual audit process.
* Complete HMRC statutory returns, including P11D, P46, and Benefits-in-Kind (BIK) reporting.
* Perform intercompany reconciliations and manage intercompany transactions.
* Maintain and update IFRS 16 lease schedules.
* Contribute to the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
* Provide financial insights during monthly departmental performance review meetings.
* Produce variance analysis and financial reports for senior management and shareholders.
* Participate in ad-hoc projects across the business to enhance performance, streamline processes, and ensure compliance within Joule UK

Requirements
* Part qualified ACCA/CIMA
* Hard working with excellent attention to detail;
* Experience with Microsoft Excel and MS Office Software;
* Knowledge of Sage Payroll and NAV
* Knowledge of Vat
* Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative;
* 2 years' experience in a similar role essential.
