Summary
* The Head of Learning Disabilities and Mental Health is a pivotal role within Adult Social Care, responsible for overseeing the Integrated Learning Disabilities Service and Integrated Mental Health Service. This position involves collaboration with the East London NHS Foundation Trust and requires a strong commitment to improving outcomes for residents. The role is set to transition to Assistant Director, incorporating management of the Out of Hours function. The successful candidate will demonstrate operational experience with adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, providing leadership and support to manage complex cases effectively.
Responsibilities
* Ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery that meets regulatory standards and statutory duties.
* Lead and collaborate within the department to enhance service integration and partnership working.
* Champion Adult Social Care in corporate projects, ensuring departmental objectives are met.
* Manage key partnerships with customers, carers, and statutory partners to achieve Council objectives.
* Oversee budget management, ensuring financial control within allocated limits.
* Provide strategic leadership and operational management to achieve high performance and effective service delivery.
* Develop and implement strategies for service improvement and customer satisfaction.
* Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and promote innovative service delivery.
* Communicate effectively with senior management, stakeholders, and the public.
* Lead and manage staff, promoting equality and collaborative working.
Experience
* Evidence of significant Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
* A degree or comparable qualification, with strong analytical and report-writing skills.
* Relevant management qualification or equivalent management training.
* Experience in senior leadership within a large, complex organization.
* Proven track record in managing assessment and care management functions.
* Experience in leading partnerships and delivering customer-focused services.
* Successful management of significant budgets and resources.
* Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively and manage change effectively.
* Resilience and drive to handle the demands and pressures of the role.
Qualification
* Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
* A degree, comparable qualification, or evidence of analytical skills, report writing and lateral thinking skills required for this level of post
* Evidence of a relevant management qualification or sufficient level of management training commensurate with this level of post
* A relevant social or health care qualification e.g. Social Work, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and evidence of current registration with appropriate registering body is desirable for this post but not essential
