Job Description
My client are looking for an experienced and detail driven Inventory Planner to help them maintain the right stock levels across their product range. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring product availability, reducing excess inventory, and supporting the efficiency of the supply chain. You’ll work closely with teams across buying, sales, logistics, and finance to ensure our inventory strategy supports broader business goals.

Key Responsibilities: · Forecast demand and manage inventory levels across a range of product categories, ensuring alignment with customer needs and business objectives. · Analyse historical sales data, market trends, and promotional activity to inform accurate forecasting and inventory planning. · Set and regularly review stock levels, safety stock, and reorder points to maintain optimal availability without overstocking. · Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure timely ordering and replenishment of inventory. · Identify and manage slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock, proposing strategies for reduction and improved stock rotation. · Track and report on key inventory metrics, including stock turns, fill rates, availability, and forecast accuracy. · Liaise with warehouse and logistics teams to support efficient stock movement, storage, and fulfilment processes. · Support regular stock reconciliations and cycle counts to maintain data accuracy within inventory systems. · Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and planning tools that support visibility and decision-making.
The Candidate: · Solid understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain processes. · Familiarity with forecasting techniques and demand planning methodologies. · Knowledge of stock control and inventory optimisation strategies. · Experience using inventory management software (SLIM4) and advanced Excel functions. · Awareness of the commercial impact of inventory decisions on working capital and customer service. Skills: · Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets. · High level of accuracy and attention to detail in planning and reporting. · Confident using Excel for analysis (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas). · Ability to work cross-functionally and build strong working relationships with buying, sales, logistics, and finance teams. · Effective communication skills – able to present data-driven insights clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
