VMware Engineer – SC Cleared – Farnborough – up to £65,000 per annum base + benefits
We are recruiting a highly skilled and motivated VMWare Engineer on behalf of a Defence Consultancy firm based in Farnborough. Due to the secure nature of the position and working environment, you must be sole British and have an active SC Clearance.
As a VMware Engineer you should have a proven track record and hands‑on experience in managing VMware technologies, specifically VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware Tanzu, and VMware vRealize Operations (vROps).
Key experience:
VCF Management:
* Deployment and Configuration: Demonstrated experience in deploying and configuring VMware Cloud Foundation, encompassing vSphere, NSX, and vSAN integration.
* Patch and Upgrade Management: Proficiency in managing VCF patching and upgrading processes to ensure a continuously up‑to‑date environment.
* Availability and Disaster Recovery: Proven expertise in implementing High Availability (HA) and disaster recovery strategies within the VCF environment.
* Kubernetes Integration: Hands‑on experience in integrating VMware Tanzu into a virtualization environment to orchestrate Kubernetes clusters within vSphere.
* Container Management: A strong understanding of containerized applications and their management using Tanzu, with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
* Security and Compliance: Familiarity with security best practices for Tanzu clusters and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
vROps Optimization:
* Performance Monitoring: Demonstrated ability to proactively monitor the health and performance of a virtualized environment using vRealize Operations Manager.
* Capacity Planning: Proven expertise in conducting capacity planning and resource optimization, efficiently allocating resources and reducing costs.
* Custom Dashboard Creation: Experience in designing and creating custom dashboards within vROps to provide real‑time insights into infrastructure performance.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
* Collaborative work with network engineers, system administrators, and security experts to ensure a holistic approach to IT infrastructure management and to provide comprehensive solutions tailored to specific client requirements.
* Ability to conduct knowledge‑sharing sessions and provide training to internal teams and clients to enhance their understanding of VCF, Tanzu, and vROps functionalities.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
* Extensive experience in managing VMware environments.
* VMware Certified Professional (VCP) in Data Center Virtualization (VCP‑DCV).
* Proficiency in VMware technologies, including vSphere, NSX, vSAN, Tanzu, and vRealize Operations.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and adaptability to evolving virtualization and cloud technologies.
