Job Title: In-Building Systems (IBS) Installation Engineer Department: Telecoms Delivery Reporting to: Project Manager / Field Supervisor Location: Site based (travel required) Role Purpose The IBS Installation Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning and documentation of in-building mobile and fibre infrastructure systems. This includes cabling, containment, antenna systems, active equipment and associated hardware to ensure high-quality network coverage and performance within commercial, residential and public sector environments. Key Responsibilities Installation & Build * Install coaxial, fibre and structured cabling in accordance with approved design drawings and specifications. * Mount antennas, RRUs, repeaters, splitters, combiners and containment systems. * Install cable tray, basket, trunking and riser infrastructure. * Carry out labelling and identification in line with project standards. * Ensure build quality meets client and OEM requirements. Testing & Commissioning Support * Perform fibre testing (OTDR, light source & power meter). * Conduct PIM and sweep testing where required. * Support integration teams with commissioning of active equipment. * Identify and rectify faults and escalate technical issues appropriately. Health, Safety & Compliance * Follow RAMS and site safety procedures at all times. * Conduct dynamic risk assessments. * Ensure safe use of access equipment, ladders and working at height. * Maintain housekeeping and safe working practices within live environments. Documentation & Reporting * Update installation records, redlines and as-built information. * Provide daily progress updates to supervisors / PM. * Capture photographic evidence of works completed. * Maintain accurate material usage records. Client & Site Coordination * Liaise professionally with building management, landlords and other contractors. * Represent the company in a professional manner on customer sites. Skills & Experience Required Essential * Experience in telecoms or IBS / DAS installation. * Knowledge of coaxial and fibre cabling techniques. * Ability to read and interpret design drawings. * Understanding of health & safety requirements in construction environments. * Good communication and teamwork skills. * Full driving licence. * Must have right to work in the UK and be currently based in the UK Desirable * Experience with major OEM equipment (e.g. Ericsson, Nokia, CommScope, JMA). * PIM / Sweep / Fibre certification experience. * IPAF, PASMA, Working at Height. * First Aid / CSCS / ECS.
