We are working on behalf of a FTSE client who are actively looking for a Financial Accountant to join their cost team. This is a high-impact role where you'll take ownership of lease accounting for over 1,000 properties, working closely with senior leaders, Group Finance, and Estates. You'll not only manage day-to-day reporting and compliance but also drive improvements in systems, processes, and reporting.
This role offers a unique mix of technical accounting, commercial analysis, and stakeholder engagement, plus the opportunity to mentor and develop one direct report.
What You'll Do
* Take full ownership of lease accounting across a large UK & Ireland property portfolio (1,000+ sites).
* Lead monthly reporting and forecasting of lease costs, working in partnership with the Estates team on renewals and commitments.
* Maintain and control the lease accounting system, ensuring accuracy, efficient processes, and effective supplier management.
* Support Group Finance with monthly, half-year, and year-end reporting on lease results.
* Prepare Board-level financial papers and respond to IFRS 16–related queries from both internal and external stakeholders.
* Identify and deliver process improvements, driving smarter and more efficient ways of working.
* Manage, mentor, and develop one direct report.
Requirements
* ACCA or ACA qualified (or equivalent).
* Solid experience in financial accounting.
* A natural problem solver with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with financial systems.
* Organised and commercial – able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
* Motivated, proactive, and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
