Mechanical Commissioning Engineer Location: Abingdon Duration: 6 Months We're looking for a practically minded Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to support the build and commissioning of a pilot plant for a confidential client in Abingdon. This is a contract role for someone who thrives in hands-on environments and knows their way around tools, not just CAD. If you're someone who enjoys spanner work, understands how to get equipment up and running, and can work effectively with minimal supervision, this could be a great fit. What you'll be doing as a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer: Supporting the physical build of a pilot plant facility Installing, testing, and commissioning mechanical equipment Troubleshooting and resolving setup issues on site Working closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams Ensuring safety and compliance throughout the build process What experience you'll need for this Mechanical Commissioning Engineer role: Solid hands-on mechanical engineering experience (not just Design) Comfortable working with tools and machinery in a build environment Background in Chemical, Biotech, FMCG, Marine, or Automotive sectors Reliable, self-sufficient, and trusted to deliver without constant oversight This is a 6 month contract for a mechanically minded engineer who's more workshop than whiteboard.
