Functional Skills Tutor (Maths & English) – Swindon
Hourly Rate: £20–£30 (DOE)

In Swindon, more students than ever are reaching out for support with their Maths and English – and we want you to be the person who helps them succeed.
We work side-by-side with Swindon Local Authority to provide one-to-one tuition for children and young people of all backgrounds and abilities. Many of our learners face additional challenges, like SEN or SEMH needs. They’re looking for a tutor who can see their potential, adapt their teaching, and make learning feel possible.
What will you do?
* Work 1:1 with students to build skills and confidence in Maths and English
* Assess starting points and identify the best way forward for each learner
* Plan engaging, accessible sessions that meet individual needs—including SEN and SEMH support
* Track progress, celebrate achievements, and adjust your approach as needed
* Communicate with families, schools, and the local authority to ensure joined-up support
Who are we looking for?
* Someone with experience teaching or tutoring Functional Skills Maths and English
* A track record of supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs
* Confident in assessing needs, planning lessons, and delivering learning in a flexible way
* Strong communicator: able to build trust with students and work in partnership with professionals
* Enhanced DBS check (or happy to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
