The role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a vital role in supporting our mission to maintain and enhance critical defence infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to influence high‑profile projects across the Naval Base Projects Division, contributing to work that protects national security and supports the Royal Navy.
You’ll help shape commercial standards, strengthen our approach to whole‑life costing, and drive a culture of best practice across a growing professional team. It’s a role that offers real purpose, long‑term career development and the chance to build deep expertise in a unique, mission‑critical environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Develop and embed contractual standards, processes and governance across the team.
2. Challenge tendering and procurement strategies to maximise value and performance.
3. Control, measure and report on cost and quality performance with Project Officers.
4. Produce cost estimates, feasibility studies and commercial evaluations.
5. Measure, value, negotiate and agree valuations and final accounts, resolving issues to the benefit of the business.
This is a full‑time, permanent position, working 36 hours across four days per week. This role is based at Faslane, and hybrid working arrangements are available.
Essential experience of the Quantity Surveyor
6. Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, engineering, infrastructure or a comparable environment.
