Responsibilities
1. Provide the highest standard of nursing care & be a role model to junior staff
2. Responsible for the effective management of all acute/PICU referrals
3. Carrying the delegated authority of the Hospital Manager and Clinical Manager for the referral process from receipt to admission decision
4. Make admission decisions (approval for acceptance or rejection) in coordination with the Hospital Manager/Clinical Manager/On-Call Manager
5. Ensure preliminary screening occurs immediately and additional information required for admission decision is requested and obtained promptly
6. Review ward capacity to manage admissions objectively
7. Complete the Referral Assessment Screening Score (RASS) and present clinical information using SBARD for decision-making
8. Process all referrals and make decisions within 1 hour of receipt

* Well-informed about the Mental Health Act 1983 & current nursing practices
* Focused on patient recovery, monitoring, managing & reducing risk
