Location: Fairview Court Nursing Home, 42A Hill Street, Bristol BS15 4ES


Hours: Full Time– Mixture of both Clinical and Supernumerary Shifts

To be responsible to for theprovision of nursing care for all residents and formaintaininga homely,supportiveand stimulating environment to improve or sustain, as far as possible, the residents’ quality of life. To lead, support and coach a staff team, upholding and actively promoting the values and philosophyso each day is the best it can be for residents and staff.

AsClinical Leadyour role in leading the shift will champion the five guiding principles offirst classcare:SAFE, EFFECTIVE, CARING, RESPONSIVE, WELL-LED


Main Duties:

Clinical care and shift management

* Ensuringall residents have full nursing assessments andanholistic,individualperson-centredcare planwhichtakesinto accounttheindividual's preferences andpreservestheir dignity at all times.Benamednurse toallocatedresidents.
* Upholding and monitoringstandards ofresident personalcare through staffguidance,supervisionand review of communications, ensuring care plans are regularly evaluated.
* Communicatingwith residents’ relatives, GP and other agencies and multi-disciplinary teams, keeping them informed of any changes in the residents’ condition.
* Role modelling;actingat all timesin a professional manner, leadingby example, passingon knowledge tothe teamasappropriate.
* Responsible for the safe custody of drugs and their administrationin accordance withthe NMC Statement on the Administration of Medicinesand Company policy.
* Ensuring your practice is compliant with infection control and prevention measures.
* Ensuringall resident areas are hygienic,safeand comfortableat all times.
* Organisingthe admission, discharge or transfer of residents and ensuringattention is paid to the safe custody of residents’ property.
* Maintainaccurateandtimelyrecordsand reviewsin accordance withbest clinical practice, Company policies andNMC's standards on Record Keeping.
* Flag up anyapparentomissions or errors in record keeping through careful observation and professional transparency.
* Participating in the development of policies relevant to the home and highlighting the need for any nursing policies to be updated.


Supervising and Mentorship

* Supervising and motivating the care staff andparticipatingin their general training,developmentand their training for professional qualification. Promoting a positive culture where individuals are supported to achieve their best.Positive role modelling.
* Ensuringtrained staff work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice.
* Liaisingwithand supportingday and night colleagues.
* Participatingin meetings with the Nurse Manager and consultingwith themand updating them asappropriate.
* Be responsible to the Home Manager in ensuring nursing and care staff deliver up to date best clinical practice andmaintaincomprehensive clinical records.
* Supervise andassistthe staff with the safe custody of medicines and their administrationin accordance withthe NMCs statement on the administration of medicines.
* Assistingin the development and maintenance of harmonious working relationships within the care team
* Participating in the implementation of individual performance review;assistingnursing staff in the achievement of development goals and advising Nurse Manager on training needs.


Training and Development

* Keeping your own training up to date; undertakingtraining andassessment including all update training as required to enable you tosafely and legally carry out your duties.
* Fulfillingrevalidation requirementsand the NMC’s Professional Conduct requirements.Keeping professionally updated and aware of developments in nursing practice,theoryand research.


Compliance

* Takingpersonal responsibility in becoming fully aware of Health & Safety at Work Policies in particular Fire Procedures, Control of Infection, COSHH andMovingand Handling Policies.
* Aware of all regulationsregardingthe health and safety ofresidents and staffand reportingand recordingall accidents,incidentsand complaints.
* Assistingin ensuring the security of all residents and the premises through the observance of security procedures and the challenging of any strangers in the Home.
* Other reasonable duties as may berequiredin the proper course of your job.
