You’ll work on residential and commercial projects to plan, design, and optimise solar PV systems—no prior solar experience required. CAD Technician - Key Responsibilities Design and layout solar PV systems using CAD-based software Use shading analysis tools and site data to optimise panel configurations Produce technical drawings and system schematics for installations Collaborate with sales, operations and electrical teams to assess feasibility Assist in documentation for DNO applications and compliance (training provided) Update design templates and technical files with the latest standards Skills & Background That Suit This CAD Technician Role We welcome candidates from these industries: Architecture – especially with site layout or roof design experience Construction Design & Planning Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MEP) Telecoms or Utilities Design (e.g., EV charging, fibre rollout) CAD Technician roles (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit) Building Services or Facilities Design CAD Technician - Essential Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design software Strong technical drawing and specification skills Ability to interpret construction plans and site data Comfortable working on multiple projects to deadlines Good IT and organisational skills Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness Desirable (but not essential) PV*SOL, PVsyst, or Helioscope experience Knowledge of UK building/electrical regulations Awareness of G99/DNO process Engineering or technical degree (or equivalent hands-on experience) More information: Be part of the renewable energy sector without needing solar experience Full training on solar-specific software and regulations Growing company with a collaborative and supportive team
