It is expected that the post holder will be able to support the Management Accountant and Senior Management Accountants in their duties, ensuring that financial governance principles and policies are reflected within the operations of each directorate.
The Assistant Management Accountant will support on the delivery of all aspects of the month-end closedown and delivery of the Care Groups monthly financial position.
To support on the financial impact of business cases and developments relating to the assigned directorates, ensuring that the financial records are effectively maintained in sufficient detail to enable prompt financial control and monitoring.
To support in the identification and development of directorate improvement programmes, monitoring their achievement and evaluating their successes.

1. •Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role
Technical skills

2. •Computer literate with experience of using Microsoft office applications
3. •Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Intermediate level experience of functions
Desirable criteria
4. •Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, required to design new and/or improve existing financial monitoring systems
5. •Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information.
Experience
Essential criteria
6. •Previous management accounting experience within the NHS or able to demonstrate in application and interview an understanding of management accounting within the NHS.
7. •Previous experience of monitoring budgets and variance analysis or able to demonstrate in application and interview an understanding of management accounting within the NHS
8. •Previous experience of data manipulation (with large data sets) or able to demonstrate in application and interview an understanding of management accounting within the NHS.
Desirable criteria
9. •Previous experience of working within the NHS, preferably within an NHS Foundation Trust.
10. •Experience in the use of E-Financials software packages
11. •Experience in the use of Business Objects.
12. •Understanding of activity, income and expenditure forecasts, including the modelling of different scenarios.
