Position Overview
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust is looking to recruit two Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons on 2‑year NHS Locum contracts. There is a possibility this contract could be made permanent following RCS approval of the job description.
Successful candidates will join a team of seven Consultant Vascular Surgeons, supported by Registrars, Resident Doctors, and two Band 7 Vascular Nurse Specialists. The team provides high‑quality vascular services across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, delivering an excellent working and living environment.
Location & Service Context
In a rural geography with a growing and seasonally fluctuating population, the role will help further develop and expand the vascular service across the Duchy of Cornwall as part of the Integrated Care System.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will provide emergency vascular surgery as part of a 1:7 consultant rota, including a Consultant of the Week on a 24/7 basis, supported by a 24/7 Interventional Radiology rota.
Other duties include:
* Inpatient elective & non‑elective operating services and day‑case sessions
* Outpatient clinics at community hospitals within Cornwall
* Major arterial vascular work at the Treliske site with access to a Hybrid suite
* Elective commitments at satellite hospitals and outreach facilities
* Contribution to the multidisciplinary diabetic foot service, complex EVAR service, and renal access programme
* Participation in a regular programme of service and educational meetings, audit and teaching
