Your Role

In this role you will lead the development and delivery of highways schemes from detailed design through construction to handover into operations and maintenance. You will contribute to safe, efficient and deliverable designs for our capital programme, support staff development, and drive continuous improvement of processes. You will work alongside experienced professionals in multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver schemes that support greener, inclusive, resilient transport and reduced air pollution.
You will lead detailed design of highway schemes with competing priorities, work with the supply chain to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes, and apply asset management principles to inform long-term planning and lifecycle management of infrastructure. Experience in active travel initiatives and placemaking is advantageous.
About You
We are looking for a motivated professional with a strong background in delivering highways projects within the public sector through detailed design and on-site construction. You should be able to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to meet challenging deadlines and manage complex highway schemes from design to site delivery. Hands-on leadership of detailed design and effective management of supply chain relationships are essential.
You will have a solid understanding of asset management principles and how they inform long-term planning and lifecycle decisions. Knowledge of active travel and placemaking considerations will be a distinct advantage.

The role is based within our Capital Delivery Service, within Strategic Infrastructure. You will work with teams that project manage capital projects and maintain highway infrastructure.
