An exciting opportunity to join the team at PVSL as an apprentice welder, undertaking stainless steel pipe and stainless steel frame fabrications in the workshop and installations around the UK for the food and drink industry.

Wage

£15,704 to £25,396.80, depending on your age

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.


What you'll do at work

Under the supervision of our workshop foreman, the candidate will learn how to:

* Cut
* Fabricate stainless steel frames & pipework for the food and drink industry
* Bolt together and fit liquid process components such as pumps/ valves and control instruments to pipework and vessels

Our apprentice will learn how to roll, weld & fabricate stainless steel sheets to form cylindrical tanks & other folded parts.

Under the supervision of the foreman to attend sites to carry out general servicing & installations on site throughout the UK.

It is a requirement that the candidate either has a driving license or is in the process of taking driving lessons with a view of passing in the near future.

Training

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

* Work safely at all times, comply with health & safety legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.
* Comply with environmental legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.
* Obtain, check and use the appropriate documentation (such as job instructions, drawings, quality control documentation).
* Carry out relevant planning and preparation activities before commencing work activity.
* Undertake the work activity using the correct processes, procedures and equipment.
* Carry out the required checks (such as quality, compliance or testing) using the correct procedures, processes and/or equipment.
* Deal promptly and effectively with problems within the limits of their responsibility using approved diagnostic methods and techniques and report those which cannot be resolved to the appropriate personnel.
* Complete any required documentation using the defined recording systems at the appropriate stages of the work activity.
* Restore the work area on completion of the activity and where applicable return any resources and consumables to the appropriate location.
* Identify and follow correct Metal work instructions, specifications, drawing etc.
* Mark out using appropriate tools and techniques.
* Cut and form Metal for the production or maintenance of fabricated products.
* Produce and assemble Metal products to required specification and quality requirements.
* Identify and follow correct joining instructions, specifications, drawing etc.
* Carry out the relevant preparation before starting the joining fabrication activity.
* Set up, check, adjust and use joining and related equipment.
* Weld joints in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements.

Your training plan

* You will be required to attend Advance 2 Campus, Dudley College, 1 day per week in term time only
* You will be assinged an assessor who will visit you every 8 weeks in the workplace to support you on your apprenticeship
* Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship you will receive a Metal Fabrication Level 3 qualification

Other requirements

PVSL is a small company and are project driven so the candidate should be flexible and willing to work additional hours when required to help complete workshop deadlines and prearranged shutdowns to carry out installations on site which may involve some weekends from time to time.

Most of the materials we work with are stainless steel and all parts & welds which come into contact with the product have to be to a hygienic standard.We are a small business that values every member of staff and rewards them for there hard work and commitment to the business.
