Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary within the Obstetric & Gynaecology Directorate at the University Hospitals of North Midlands.

This is a fixed term contract for 15 months.


Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint a Medical Secretary to the Obstetric & Gynaecology Secretarial Team. This will involve administration duties and dealing with members of the public.

* Outstanding empathy and compassion
* Able to use own initiative
* Organisational skills
* Experience of Microsoft Office packages
* Clinical typing experience
* Understanding of clinics and appointments
* Understanding of Referral to treatment pathways

Person specification


Education & Qualifications

* Good general education to include
* GCSE English or equivalent
* RSA III word processing or equivalent


Experience

* Secretarial/clerical background.


Skills & Knowledge

* Knowledge of Microsoft office package including Microsoft word and outlook
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of hospital systems


Personal Qualities

* Able to use own initiative.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work in a demanding, pressurised environment
