Job Title: Care Assistant Location: Care Home Reports to: Senior Care Assistant / Care Home Manager Job Purpose: To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met, while promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities: Personal Care & Support Assist residents with daily living activities such as washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Support with mobility, including using hoists, wheelchairs, and other aids. Assist residents with eating and drinking, ensuring nutritional needs are met. Medication & Clinical Support Safely administer prescribed medication in line with care home policies and procedures. Maintain accurate medication records and report any concerns immediately. Ensure compliance with medication administration training and standards. Health, Safety & Behaviour Support Observe and report any changes in residents health or wellbeing to senior staff. Apply PMVA (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) or MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression) techniques appropriately when required to maintain safety. Follow safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety procedures at all times. Emotional & Social Care Provide companionship and emotional support to residents. Encourage participation in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities. Support residents in maintaining relationships with family and friends. Record Keeping & Communication Accurately document care provided and maintain up-to-date records. Contribute to and follow residents care plans. Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and families. Skills & Qualities Required: Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle challenging behaviour calmly and professionally. Reliable, flexible, and committed to delivering quality care. Qualifications & Experience: Previous experience working in a care home or similar care setting. Experience in medication administration (essential). PMVA or MAPA certification (essential). NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care. Knowledge of safeguarding, manual handling, and first aid is desirable.
