About the role
You’ll work across a broad range of Environmental Health functions, with a focus on:
* Public Health, Statutory Nuisance and Environmental Protection
* Private Sector Housing
Your day-to-day work will be varied and hands-on, including:
* Investigating noise, smoke, light and other nuisance complaints
* Dealing with vermin, accumulations and other public health issues
* Inspecting private rented properties and HMOs and dealing with complaints
* Supporting residents and businesses to resolve issues
You’ll also have opportunities to gain experience in other areas such as food safety, health and safety, animal welfare and special treatment licensing / registrations.

Essential
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively
* A proactive and self-motivated approach
* Commitment to excellent customer service
* Capable of dealing with confrontational situations, calmly and confidently.
* Current full driving licence and access to a vehicle as there is a requirement to travel within the area.
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience in Environmental Health or a related field
* Knowledge of housing, nuisance or enforcement work
