A vacancy has arisen for a Flt Lt/Fg Off to serve as OC People Ops Flt at 614 Sqn, Cardiff on PTVR Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 1 March 2025 (or earlier dependant on candidate circumstances). The Sqn is a General Support Sqn (GSS), encompassing 9 professions, providing dedicated support at RAF Brize Norton - the RAF’s largest main operating base - to enable the Air Mobility Force (AMF) to ‘prepare for and deliver global operations’. 614 Sqn is Wales’ only RAF Reserve sqn and recruits from across South Wales and the West of England. People Ops officers are responsible for the unit’s human resources and physical training delivery as part of the Ops Flt (PTVR officers and aviators). We are looking for a (Phase 2) qualified and experienced People Ops officer who is people-focused, proactive and results-driven who will fit into an established team of People Ops and Physical Training Instructors (PTI) aviators quickly. OC People Ops Flt will be responsible for the leadership, management, welfare and professional development of their subordinates. They will be the Sqn’s subject matter expert for the delivery of human resources function within the Sqn, but also in support of tasking (in accordance with the People Ops and PTI profession CONEMP) and will be expected to: Develop how the People Ops Flt operates and enhance its annual training programme. Seek new and varied opportunities for People Ops aviators, while strengthening relationships with the Profession Advisor and regional Human Resource Centres. Exploit their professional network to benefit this thriving and busy Sqn. Although 614 Sqn is based at Ty Llewellyn Reserves Centre in Cardiff, the majority of trg/duty events, including the 2-week Annual Continuous Training period, takes places at RAF stations with most at RAF Brize Norton. There will be routine UK travel, including an opportunity to participate in overseas expeditions and staff rides. This is an ideal opportunity for a serving RAuxAF officer to broaden their experience both in a flt cdr position and professionally at a GSS that is vibrant and rapidly expanding, which supports the AMF.
