Job Summary
This is an integral role in ensuring consistent standards in workmanship, documentation and behavioural compliance. The Engineering Supervisor will plan and manage the day-to-day activities of the site engineering team. Monitor the effectiveness of engineering activities and implement corrective actions. They will also carry out assessments to identify gaps in engineering compliance areas and will provide support for major site occupational/food safety issues, accidents or major production issues.
Working 4 on 4 off- Days
Duties
* Motivate and lead the engineering team on a day-to-day basis delivering on the site maintenance strategy
* Manage the engineering team to ensure shift resource availability, and all aspects of people management to include absence and performance
* Monitor, review and implement planned maintenance to achieve 90 % target completion rate
* Review PM's by area, focus on quality of PM and Health and safety aspects
* Work closely with operations teams supporting on all aspects of production to include improvements, reliability and process
* Support Site Engineering Manager to lead an audit ready engineering department ensuring planned maintenance is completed and documented, compliance to Company procedures
* Support Site Engineering Manager to deliver monthly one to ones presenting / months performance / KPI'S / Projects
* Drive safety standards in the department by completing safety walks, ensuring SSOW are followed by the engineers and that the engineering team are aware of site H&S standards
* Demand and lead behaviour to deliver a clean, tidy and safe working environment that the department can be proud of
Compliance
* Drive consistent standards (statutory, codes of practice, Jacksons internal, BRC, HSE, site, best practice) in workmanship, documentation and behavioural compliance.
* Ensure all high-risk engineering work is conducted safely through the permit to work system.
* Ensure all engineering work is reviewed so that potential safety issues and conflicts are identified.
* Lead associated contractor activity, feedback on issues and near misses.
* Collaborate with production managers to drive site efficiencies.
* Provide technical input and review against standards for new installations and projects.
Safety
* Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities as identified in Jacksons Health & Safety policies. Promote health and safety compliance by Jackson's colleagues and contractors.
* Ensure appropriate risk assessments and safe systems are in place.
* Audit the Permit to Work process and permit authorizer compliance.
* Audit contractors working on site.
* Act as engineering expert in emergencies.
* Understand the importance of Process Safety Systems and develop the appropriate skills/knowledge.
* Understand and enforce site safety policies & rules.
* Apply risk assessment and change management procedures.
* Understand environmental impacts and assessments and the importance of control measures.
* Advise on technologies to enable energy and waste reduction activities.
* Support incident investigation activities as required.
Continuous Improvement
* Systematically review performance, identifying and implementing opportunities to improve equipment reliability and efficiency using Engineering Strategy principles and tools.
* Identify electrical and automation best practice.
* Ensure successful achievement of performance targets (KPIs) Lead & Develop People
* Assist with recruitment and development of Shift Engineers to deliver work effectively and safely.
* Ensure that skills and competency gaps are identified and addressed.
* Liaise with training department to ensure training plans are appropriate for the team.
* Progress the decision-making, problem solving and technical engineering capability of the team.
* Drive cohesion of the team to create a unified and consistent unit with a high standard of professionalism.
Suppliers
* Optimise the use of external resources to assist in the achievement of driving measures, whilst ensuring full compliance with Jacksons purchasing and contract management rules.
* Hold suppliers to account against clearly communicated standards and expectations.
* Any other duties relevant to the role.
