Lisa Marie is a lovely bubbly 50-year-old woman who lives with her brother Wayne and his family in Byker Newcastle Upon Tyne. Lisa has complex health issues with physical and mental disabilities, including epilepsy and bowel issues managed with medication. Lisa has developmental delay and has the mental capacity of an infant. She is seeking a personal assistant to support her, her brother, and family with daily routines to provide stability and structured care. Lisa attends a daycare centre 5 days a week, and the PA will support her brother with bathing routines and morning preparations. The PA will also assist with weekly observations under instruction and training from Lisa’s brother, who manages her medications.
Lisa is non-verbal but communicates through hand signals and vocal noises. She enjoys bath time, sensory toys, various music genres, especially Barry Manilow and boybands, but dislikes rock or heavy metal. She loves family outings in her brother’s van and has a good sense of humor, enjoying bubbly, outgoing personalities. She is shy initially but becomes cheeky once comfortable. Lisa loves crisps and chocolate, especially Quavers.
The role includes full personal care, support with feeding when needed, and the use of hoists and wheelchairs, so good fitness levels are essential. Flexibility is required for daily visits in the morning and early evening to assist with personal care, with days to be discussed.
