About the Role
The primary objective of this role is to ensure the seamless, day‑to‑day operations of the Transport and Goods Dispatch functions within the Catering department, overseeing all aspects to maintain efficiency and timely service.
Responsibilities
* Organise, oversee and manage vehicle dispatch – ensure efficient coordinating and loading of vehicles, prioritise routes and manage workload to guarantee timely deliveries.
* Team leadership and management – provide day‑to‑day leadership of drivers and the night dispatch team operating out of the Irlam depot. Manage staff rotas, oversee holidays, conduct team training and development, build team cohesion and handle disciplinary actions when necessary.
* Incident management and communication – act as the point of contact for overnight incidents, vehicle breakdowns or operational challenges. Communicate effectively with internal departments to ensure swift resolution and minimise disruptions.
* Daily reporting – provide regular updates and comprehensive reports to the Transport Manager to maintain transparency and address operational issues.
* Security oversight – take full responsibility for the security and integrity of the dispatch bays, rear yard and all fleet vehicles, safeguarding personnel and assets.
* Collaborate with the Order Makeup Department – work closely with the Order Makeup team to enhance and streamline vehicle dispatch times and drive continuous process improvement.

* Previous experience in the fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
* Possession of a Reach or Counterbalance forklift truck licence.
